The Rules of the Game

Introduction

Nine years ago, while completing my undergraduate studies at UCLA, I wrote a term paper entitled, "The Game: an Evaluation of Urban Values and Ethics." This led me down a journey of self understanding. Eventually, I would author a body of writings that became in 2005 the foundation for the Saints & Goddesses Social Club, a mutually beneficial sororal and fraternal organization.

I cannot take credit for these rules as my own. They have existed for thousands of years, and most rational people would take them as common sense; but as the great Voltaire so eloquently put it, "common sense is not so common."

I have found that violating these rules has always personally led me to be worse off. And I have observed people whom I care about who violate these rules exist in a self-made hell of resentment and self destruction. Those who habitually violate these rules are ostracized from social groups. I have had to cut numerous people whom I still have love for because they could not play fair.

On the other hand, following these rules has provided me with a meaningful and fruitful life thus far. I have cultivated life-long friendships and I have enjoyed pleasures which some folks only fantasize about.

In the Saints & Goddesses Social Club, we promote a healthy pursuite of Money, Honey and the Holy. We believe in playing clean.

THE RULES OF THE GAME – by Santos de Los Angeles of the SAINTS & GODDESSES SOCIAL CLUB

Rule No. 22
Whatever you do good or bad, will return to you 3 times over. What goes around comes around.

Rule No. 21
If it hurts noone, including yourself, do as you will.

Rule No. 20
As Player Saints and Player Goddesses, our Love is unconditional, constant and pure. Business and intimate matters may be bound by conditions, but not the love we have for one another. Our love does not depend on money or sex, space or time. Love can never be created or destroyed; it only changes forms.

Rule No. 19
Our word is bond and we don't break it. Therefore we don't make promises we can't keep.

Rule No. 18
We don't chase 'em we replace 'em. We don't cast our pearls before swine. We know how to let go and move on.

Rule No. 17
We are straight up from the beginning. Rules and terms are agreed upon before a Game begins. No misunderstandings, no wrong expectations, & and no flipping the script.

Rule No. 16
We believe in Fair Exchange. We are bound by favors to one another. A favor for a favor. If you take care of me, then I'll take care of you.

Rule No. 15
Money before Honey. Business before Pleasure. We work hard and play hard.

Rule No. 14
We never hate, we congratulate. We give credit where credit is due. Give props to Players on the come up.

Rule No. 13
Freedom is our right. We are free to choose and free to change our minds. Free from the judgement of other's opinions.

Rule No. 12
We don't take things personal or make assumptions.

Rule No. 11
We don't hold grudges, but we keep records. We forgive, but we don't forget. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Once respect or trust is violated, it's a long road back.

Rule No. 10
We have love, we show love, we are in love, we make love, but we don't FALL in love. We recognize a difference between True Love and Toxic Love. True Love bears good fruit, makes us better people, healthier, happier. Toxic Love is infatuation, obsessive, dependent, inspires fear and insecurity, hurts you emotionally, spiritually, and financially.

Rule No. 9
We SHARE our gifts, especially our knowledge with less experienced players.

Rule No. 8
We don't resort to violence, except in self-defense or in defense of others.

Rule No. 7
We resolve our differences with class & in a private and discreet manner.

Rule No. 6
We never throw salt in anyone's game.

Rule No. 5
We control our emotions. No drama.

Rule No. 4
The Law of Silence. See no evil, hear no evil speak no evil. We don't advertize private or personal matters, and we never speak another player's name in vain.

Rule No. 3
TRUST should never be compromised. Trust is the thing that binds us to one another. It means you are worth your weight in gold.

Rule No. 2
RESPECT. There are lines that should never be crossed. Personal, private, and public life is kept seperate and sacred.

Rule No. 1
On which all other rules of the Game are based on is: We only spread love, we never hate in any way.

Energy and Game

Babies and Daddies,

Energy cannot be seen.
This does NOT mean it is IMAGINARY by any means. It merely unseen. Yet it is what our true nature is at it's core. It is the fundamental nature of the Game-seen.

Siddhartha Gautama, Player Saint known as the Buddha, understood this fundamental aspect of the Game 3,000 years ago. Albert Einstein and modern Quantum Physicists are figuring it out nowadays. Everyone else is in a fog of ignorance. Intellectual Squares.

So as it turns out, the material world is the imaginary world. It exists momentarily and then disappears. We perceive the "real world" by our LIMITED senses, and we project an incomplete and imperfect picture in our minds about what we assume is real. The truth remains hidden from us.

Yet energy always is, always has been, and always will be. Everything is made of energy. Einstein calls it E=mc^2, which basically means everything is made of energy.

Buddha recognized the illusion of apparent reality as "Maya." In the Wheel of Life, our suffering occurs when we try to hold on to the illusions and try to grasp for permanence. We frustrate ourselves when we try to hold on to a moment of pleasure because it flees immediately after it exists. And we equally torture ourselves by constantly thinking about our painful experiences from the past, and therefore relive them. The lesson for us as Player Saints here is learning to let go.

Never rest on your past laurels. Focus constantly on new goals. Never get too comfortable. And don't take anything personal.

It's important to understand the nature of Energy because therein lies the secret to all happiness and key to eliminate pain as well.

Game-Seen and Game-Unseen

Babies and Daddies,

We distinguish between the "Game-seen" and "Game-unseen." The Game-seen is the so-called material world, it is the ever changing scenery which we call life and the objective world. The Game-unseen is the world and life as it truly is beneath the veil of appearance. Player Saints and Goddesses who understand the Book of Toth, refer to the Game-seen as the Minor Arcana, and the Game-unseen as the Major Arcana.

The Game-seen is equivalent to a TV show, the stage is artificial, the performances are scripted, and yet the finished product has the appearance of real life. Yet, that it is not as things are in truth--only as they appear to be.

Most squares live in a make-believe world, prepackaged and handed to them by parents and society. This is not the total sum of the Game-Seen. It just adds to the confusion.

The Game-Seen deals with the fundamental pursuits of Money and Honey, also known as Power & Pleasure, or Artha and Kama. These pursuits occupy our Mind and Body--in this world. This is the most important priority of all living beings. The negligence of Money or Honey only leads to suffering.

The Game-Unseen is our infinite self. It represents the Energy which make up our electrons and protons, which make up our atoms, which make-up our molecules, which make up our cells, organs, organism, our Animal Self. We cannot see what we are at our core, therefore we appropriately say it is "unseen."

Simply because we are unable to see Energy, does NOT mean it is IMAGINARY by any means. It merely unseen. Yet, it is what our true nature is at it's core. It is the fundamental nature of the Game-seen.

In Truth,

On Goddess Worship

Babies and Daddies,

I'm not in the habit of bullshitting or telling tall tales so bare with me if what I write down sounds like I'm selling wolf tickets.
The details I have told to a handful of my closest friends, but the recap goes like this.

In 1999, I experienced a hell of a trip. I can describe myself in those days as an existential Nietzschean, I only believed in scientific explanations for things. I make no apology for the fact that I believed that God and Santa Clause were born out of the same imagination. Noone could ever give me a compelling piece of evidence for the existence of anything supernatural. Aliens were a thousand times more believable than spirits. I guess you could say, I had to see it to believe it.

In July of that year, I was drowning in Rosarito. I felt death upon me, when in desperation I yelled out to heaven not to kill me, "ayudame!" I felt the ocean push me out. That was humbling, but I wasn't converted or anything of the sort. If anything, I felt like a real scumbag for chumping out in fear.

And then I saw pass the veil of apparent reality. I met the Goddess in the forests of Yosemite--in a literal sense, that is. I saw a female form take shape in the trees and I was in her presence for hours. I couldn't ask anything because it was simply enough to see her eyes and her smile. Her existence answered all questions.

A few months later in the hills of Santa Barbara, in front of two mountain lions I saw all manner of spiritual entities and I heard the voice of my creator as I stared into the Sun.
This was a masculine voice, a powerful and frightening voice. All I could muster out of my mouth was "I didn't know." But I realized that the Creator was this, Goddess and God. One part so beautiful and motherly, and the other side was nothing to mess with. People get it twisted when they say "God is love," mistaking this to mean that God will take any crap we dish out at him, like he's a sorry as punk--that's a big mistake.

My spiritual connection only occurred in nature, and I always was afraid I would forget that this presence existed once I returned to the city. I always forgot. I would get caught up in my day to day, and then had to live with the doubt of whether what I had lived was a figment of my imagination or a hallucination. Then I'd leave the city and go into some forest, and connect again. I wanted to stay, but I had unfinished business to attend to.

I have lived with this experience for the past decade of my life. It would seem like a truly significant event not only for my life but for humanity. Yet, I wasn't given any specific instructions, I cannot perform miracles, and frankly I am very selective with the company I keep. I'm not out for recruits. I'm not a fan of the masses... I'll get you up on game if you come at me with respect, but I'm not looking for followers.

Fortunately, I have come across dozens of individuals who have had similar experiences, and who seem to have more knowledge on this subject--unfortunately, I have only met these folks in writings. I'm grateful for finding these works, and they have helped me piece together the most important part of the Money Honey & Holy triad.

When it comes to the Holy, I can speak with the conviction of experience and not merely hearsay. All religions are connected to this truth, but sometimes we must trudge thru the nonsensical dogma to reach it. I cannot blame the atheists and cynical skeptics who scoff at anything religious because we have been manipulated by our religious leaders in a scandalous way.

The truth is no one has a monopoly on the Divine, no matter how much they may try to intimidate and threaten us otherwise. The Creator has spoken to all peoples in all parts of the Earth thru Gods & Goddesses, and there is countless evidence of this. Shamans, seers, witches, rabis, saints, priests & priestesses, santeros, curanderos, and all manner of men and women have heard and looked through the veil of perception.

Certainly their have been plenty of wannabes, but some of us are the real deal. Truth be told, I have no interest in being a stereotypical holy man, who gives up the material world to become a celibate sexless bum. My bad, no disrespect to anyone, but I'm a Player Saint and my game is pure.
